The Rumoured Project, commonly known as TRP, is the band of Kamala Nehru College. It is a family of 13 students united by the common ground of music. The society is a safe space where every student can explore their music interests, learn from each other and grow in their own ways. It was formed in 2012 by Dipika Sharma, who became its first drummer and her group of passionate musicians. The band now consists of a lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, bassist, percussionist, vocalists, and song writers who get together to jam and create music. We put together an original composition every year on a particular theme which we execute on various occasions throughout the year. As the only all-girls band in Delhi University, we are happy to have two original compositions under our belt. Further, TRP pushes its members to get out of their comfort zones to gain knowledge about the various genres of music. We offer weekly activities to all the members of the band in order to ensure a regular involvement and a good practice routine.
The band performs at a lot of events within and outside of the college like department farewells, freshers, our college fest 'Ullas', inter-college competitions, open mics, gigs and what not! Over the years the band has performed for various department festivals and also presented the opening act for the band 'Tarkash' at ULLAS 2018, the annual cultural festival of the college. They perform covers as well with the original pieces. These platforms offer a great opportunity to all the musicians to fulfil their longing of performing on stage while also learning teamwork, time management and perseverance. Every year, the band welcomes new members who are screened and picked through two levels of auditions, followed by probation before being finalised. The society arranges intra college gigs from time to time as well as unplugged inter college competitions for instrumentalists to keep the groove alive.
