Dr. Kalpana Bhakuni has been teaching in University of Delhi for thirty- three years. At the moment she is officiating as Principal, Kamala Nehru College since 1stJan, 2017. Her research work on scenic resources is recognized as one of the pioneer works in India. She specializes in tourism within the fold of Geography discipline. She worked as a Consultant in Ministry of tourism in 1989 and prepared a policy document for Himachal Pradesh Govt. under VIII Plan. She has accomplished several Project works, such as Major Research Project (UGC) 2011, Innovative Project, 2014 (Delhi University) and Post-doctoral research, 2010 (Delhi University). She visited France under Indo-French Social Scientists Exchange Program in 2009. She was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award for Innovation, 2015 by University of Delhi on its 93rdFoundation Day.
Dr. Bhakuni has several research papers published in International and National journals. She has also widely travelled and presented papers in International and National Conferences on specialized themes related to Ecotourism, Sustainable Tourism, Himalayan indigenous communities, Community-based livelihoods, Gender studies, etc. She has also conducted Certificate Course on Ecotourism in Delhi University in 2011. Another dimension of her work combines spiritual quest and research, in this field she has authored a research-oriented bestseller on Shirdi Sai (2007). She has also been Editor of ‘Sai Kripa’, quarterly magazine (1995-2003).
