Expressions - the English Creative Writing Society of Kamala Nehru College, endeavours to develop the creative writing potential of students by providing them a favourable environment through literary meets, creative writing events and workshops. The society aims to develop in the students’ capacity to think creatively and express their thoughts to contribute to the global cause of humanity. Expressions believes that the pen is mightier than the sword and so has used the power of poetry to spread the message of love, peace, and harmony across the borders. In a world torn apart by wars, conflicts, and ethnic clashes, people lose sight of what is beautiful and innocent. The power of poetry can remind people of these delicate values and so save the future of humanity. For this Expressions has collaborated with Poetry Across Cultures, a non-profit association of poets initiated in 2007 by Dr. Rita Malhotra. Expressions has endeavored to encourage better understanding between cultures by participating in cross-cultural poetic dialogues. In the past years, in collaboration with ‘Poetry Across Cultures’, poetry evenings were organized with the Embassies of Finland, Portugal, France, Serbia, Romania, Italy, and the US to encourage poetry aiming at global appreciation and bonding.
